INTRO
God truly loves His people and He wants us to live and enjoy a prosperous life. Psalms 35:27 tells us that the Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants; and John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came that we may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance to the full, till it overflows. Look what else God says in His Word:
- For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23
- Then he (an angel) said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. Daniel 10:12
- Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! PSALM 103:20
The common thread in these Scriptures is that they ALL reference the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue and those that love it will eat the fruit thereof. Simply put, this means you will have whatever you say, which is what Jesus basically says in Mark 11:23.
The caveat, however, is that this not only applies to the good things we speak, but it also applies to the bad or negative things we speak. If we continually say how sick and tired we are, we cannot then wonder why we always feel so sick and tired. We must keep in mind that once our words exit from our mouths and into the atmosphere, it is not the responsibility of anyone, seen or unseen, to discern if we meant what we said or not. Jesus says you will have whatever you say (Mark 11:23b) and not whatever you meant to say.
THE MC / MOUTH CONSECRATION
(The Challenge Explained)
The good news is that our mouths are so powerful that it can actually “set in motion the cycle of natural events” as mentioned James 3:6. Job 22:28 says “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee”; and in essence, this is exactly what we’ll be doing during our 40 day MC (mouth consecration) by:
- Learning what God says about us, our children, our trials and situations, issues, concerns, our future, and our present;
- Getting into agreement with God’s Word about these things;
- Establishing His Word in our hearts and minds and declaring and decreeing them out of our mouths!
The words declare and decree means as follows:
To declare is to state emphatically and to make known formally, officially, or explicitly one’s intentions; to make known by language; to communicate or manifest explicitly and plainly in any way; to exhibit; to publish; to proclaim; to announce;
To decree is an order from one having authority, deciding what is to be done by a subordinate; also a determination by one having power, deciding what is to be done or to take place; edict; law; authoritative. By the Spirit that lives in us, we have the power to declare and decree and it shall be established and the light [of God's favor] shall shine upon our ways (Job 22:28). Halleluiah!
Once the Word of God says we will have what we say, imagine what would happen if we strategically chose our words and wisely and purposely spoke them out of our mouths with expectation. Psalms 45:1 says, “My tongue is as the pen of a ready writer.” Imagine what would happen if we chose to write with our tongue (words) those things that are good for and to us, of course, being in alignment with God’s will for us. The awesome thing about God’s will is that He wants so much good for us because He absolutely loves us! He wants us to live prosperously (Psalms 35:27, III John 1:2), to have and enjoy a multitude of blessings (Deut. 28:1-14), to live and enjoy His peace (John 14:27), to delight in Him (Psalms 37:4), He wants to give us the desires of our hearts (Psalms 37:4), for our joy and gladness to be of full measure and complete and overflowing (John 15:11), and for us to live and enjoy life to the full until it overflows (John 10:10). This is a snapshot of God’s desires for us. And guess what? We want the same thing ourselves, and the bridge between desire and manifestation is our aligning ourselves to His Words and walking in faith; and faith is much more than simply believing. Just as the Apostle Paul said in II Corinthians 4:13, “We believe, therefore, we speak”; so is the same we will do in this MC: WE BELIEVE THEREFORE WE SPEAK!
INSTRUCTIONS
November 15th will be the 1st day of our 40 day MC and we shall purposely and aggressively do the following two things:
- Decree a thing in purposed and focused faith! (Job 22:28, Mark 11:23) The words to declare and decree will be explained below.
- [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) (2 Corinthians 10:5 AMP).
We’ve already exhausted #1 so I will briefly touch on the importance of #2. When you begin this MC, the enemy WILL come against you through people you know and love, through circumstances and even more so through your own thoughts. He will try to convince you that you’re a fool and that this will not work, but remember he’s a liar! The enemy is well aware of the creative power that’s in your mouth which is why he will do everything possible to either close your mouth OR get you to inadvertently curse yourself or cancel out your own blessings by speaking works of death and negativity. Understand that he will use anyone he can, especially those who are closest to you, to trick you into speaking against yourself and your blessings. Therefore, for some of you, you may need to separate from a few family members or friends who do not or cannot support you during this time. Just as in Amos 3:3, how can two walk together unless they agree?
In addition, during this Word Challenge/Mouth Consecration, we WILL do the following:
1) Determine to COMMIT to the Challenge/MC throughout the ENTIRE 40 days!
2) Establish and commit to the specific times and # of times you will declare and decree the words on your list (more info about the list below). Think of what you do when you have to take medicine. With most meds, you have to take them every 4-6 hours in order for them to work effectively. With your MC, you determine the # of times each day (as well as the scheduled times) that you will prayerfully and audibly voice your confessions. In between these set times and throughout the day, it’s also a good idea to meditate on your confessions (which are words you pulled from Scripture).
My advice is for you to voice your confessions at least 3 scheduled times each day (8am, 12noon, 6pm); as well as continue throughout the day meditating on those corresponding Scriptures, thinking on those things, praising God on these things and even speaking them out throughout the day! BE FOCUSED, ACTIVE AND CONSISTENT!
3) When preparing your Declaration list, only list those things that lines up with the Word of God; as I John 5:14-15 AMP says, “And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.”
4) Determine to stand in faith and be faithful in your faith! Remember to walk by faith and not by sight (how things appear or seem at the time).
5) Surrender to God’s authority and to all that God tells you to do. This is key! And anytime you miss the mark or mess up, confess it to Him and ask for His forgiveness and then RECEIVE His forgiveness and keep on moving! (See 1 John 1:9AMP) Do not come under condemnation; for that is of the devil’s desire and not God’s. (Read Romans 8:1)
6) Purposely filter and monitor the words you speak, as to ensure that you do not, even in joking, curse or cancel out that which you’ve been declaring.
7) Purposely filter and monitor the words you allow to enter your ear and eye gate. This is important! Remember, death and life is in the power of the tongue! This doesn’t just include your and my tongue but everyone’s—including those whom you expose yourself to.
8) Do not compare your results to others! Everyone is unique and their situations are also unique, and God release of blessings and change isn’t the same for everybody! Keep your focus on God and what you’re doing, and not on someone else.
9) Wait upon the Lord in faith and with expectation! Remember, God do things in His own timing! Keep your eyes on the Prize, which is Christ Jesus and remember that they that wait upon the Lord shall NEVER be ashamed!
SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS
In Your Time of Preparation
- Forgive all who have wronged you and seek the forgiveness of those who you’ve wronged or those whom the Holy Spirit puts in your heart to ask forgiveness. Unforgiveness is a huge prayer blocker so you want to make sure there is nothing blocking your prayers!
- To help you create your Declaration list, here’s a suggestion:
- Get a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle;
- On the left-hand side of the paper, write down a list of every negative, hurtful word told to you by people you or the deceitful enemy. Include on this side every negative thing you’ve thought about yourself;
- After making your list, go to God’s Word and find out what He says about you and your listed matters (you may need a concordance – http://bibletab.com/) and then write it down on the right-hand side of the paper—corresponding with the negative, hurtful words listed in Column One. For example:
| What “THEY” and I said about me | What GOD says about me! |
| “I’m a failure and can never be successful” | “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) |
| “I am rejected by everyone” | “I (God) have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9b-10) |
| “In order to show that I love Christ, I have to be poor and despise wealth” | “And let them say continually, “The LORD be magnified, Who delights in the prosperity of His servant.” (Psalms 35:27)“But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth” (Deut. 8:18)“Humility and fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life” (Proverbs 22:4) |
| “I’m just a mess! I don’t know if I can ever get this saved thing down” | “But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Cor. 3:18)“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) |
| “I don’t think I have what it takes to even do this challenge” | “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)“For truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.” (Matthew 17:20) |
- You can also add the following to your Declaration list (the right side):
- Scriptures on healing (if you’re facing any kind of illness—whether physical, spiritual, emotional, financial or physical);
- Scriptures on God’s love for you (this is powerful);
- Scriptures on the spiritual and material blessings;
- Scriptures on the spiritual authority and power you have over the enemy (to help build your arsenal, confidence and success in spiritual warfare);
- Scriptures on WHATEVER GOD HAS PROMISED YOU through His written or spoken Word (ex. Your children’s salvation, your wellness and wholeness, a business, new home, etc.)
- Scriptures on WHATEVER GOD SAYS BELONGS TO YOU!
- Determine that you will not quit but instead you will remain steadfast speaking, declaring, believing and being in faith with God’s Word!
